Due diligence of the client is an important step in the Grenada Citizenship by Investment program as verification of the applicant’s background, financial credibility and criminal record and the basis for approving or rejecting a Citizenship By Investment application. However the security and confidentiality of all provided documents and information are of utmost importance in the process
The Government of Grenada has developed a due diligence and verification process to ensure transparency and program integrity.
1 The first step in the due diligence process
The Investment Citizenship Committee conducts a background check and vetting process for applications received internally through the Commission itself,
using the support of the Caribbean Community Implementation Agency’s Joint Regional Communications Center (JRCC) and Security (CARICOM IMPACS) electronically verifying the accuracy of investor applications
2 The second step in the due diligence process
In the second phase, the Citizens Investment Commission forwards documents and applications
to one or more independent, professional and qualified individuals or groups, pre-contracted research firms specializing in corruption and terrorism assessments and money laundering investigations, for due diligence on each applicant.
In order to determine whether an applicant is a high-risk country these private companies conduct an electronic and thorough inspection and submit a due diligence report to the Commission, which they use to make their approvals and recommendations potential candidates
Successfully selected and verified applicants can generally proceed with the rest of the application. Grenada’s due diligence process is so transparent and comprehensive that Grenada’s Citizenship by Investment program is one of the most highly rated Citizenship by Investment programs in the world.
